Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between HEIC and HEIF?
HEIF is an image container format, while HEIC is a common HEIF-based format produced by iPhones and iPads. This tool accepts supported .heic and .heif files.
Why convert HEIC to JPG?
JPG can be opened and uploaded more widely across websites, applications and older devices. Apple notes that HEIF uses less storage than JPEG and may be converted to JPEG automatically for some sharing methods.
Does a Live Photo include its video when converted?
No. This tool converts only images contained in the HEIC file. A Live Photo video is a separate file and is not included in the JPG.
Will the original EXIF date and GPS location be preserved?
Do not expect all metadata to remain. The image is redrawn and encoded as a new JPG, which removes some private metadata but may also remove the original date, camera and GPS details. Keep the original HEIC file.
Are images sent to the VPS for processing?
No. Decoding, resizing, JPG creation and ZIP generation use the user device CPU and memory. The VPS only serves the page and scripts; it does not receive, store or carry the image contents.
